Rep. Peter Hoekstra, R-Mich, the senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, vowed to oppose any attempt to bring Guantanamo prisoners to Michigan.Leave them in Gitmo--why spend millions to ensure sleepless nights in our communities?
"They are some of the most dangerous people in the world who pose a major threat to U.S. national security," Hoekstra said in a statement issued Monday. "We need to preserve jobs in Michigan, but turning our state into a terrorist penal colony is not how to attract new families and business investment."

Michigan's UP or Kansas? How'd you like to be on the jury in a small town, or around if and when these guys escape (or are let go)?:

Actually, that prison isn't in the UP, it's in lower Michigan. The UP (or "Da UP" as it's called up der) has one in Baraga... I used to fish up there, it's a nice place, though the last time I was up there, somebody actually broke out and was on the run for 3 days until they got caught in northern WI. So maybe it's good that's not where they're thinking of sending them...!
